Arunachal Govt to Build Memorial Commemorating Unsung Freedom Fighters

The state government of Arunachal Pradesh would create a memorial for all “unsung” liberation fighters in the state, Chief Minister Pema Khandu said in the Assembly on Saturday.

According to Khandu, a committee will be formed, which will hold meetings with all stakeholders, including community-based organisations, and choose a location for the memorial. He stated that the names of martyrs would be etched on the memorial.

The CM also stated that the Union social justice and tribal affairs ministry has directed the state government to provide a list of freedom fighters from the state in a letter, which was initiated by Congress MLA Ninong Ering. Following that, the state government requested that all deputy commissioners submit their names.
