Arunachal: DCM Chowna Mein Calls on Governor before Budget Session

Arunachal Pradesh Governor BD Mishra expressed hope that the budgetary measures of the state government will facilitate the government machinery in meeting the socioeconomic goals for the overall benefit of the people.

Discussing the forthcoming budget session and developmental projects in the state with Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein at the Raj Bhavan on Thursday, the governor emphasised on improving the standard of living of the people and eradication of gender discrimination, illiteracy, unemployment, income inequality, etc.

Governor Mishra also stressed on proper monitoring of expenditure and optimum utilisation of allocated funds.

He said that the government officials should ensure that the last man in the queue benefits from the developmental schemes and projects taken up by the government. 

It is to be mentioned that the 7th session of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly (APLA) will begin on Friday.

Deputy Speaker Tesam Pongte informed that, besides the presentation of the budget, some bills will be tabled during the session.

“On the first day, the governor will address the assembly. Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, who also holds the finance ministry, will present the budget on 14 March,” Pongte informed.

He further said that, apart from a few amendment bills related to universities, there will be no major bill presented during the session. 

He added that, for the first time, the bills will be passed through electronic voting.
