Arunachal: Kebi Panchayat Bans Illegal Hunting, Felling in Lower Subansiri

Kebi Panchayat under Yachuli constituency in Lower Subansiri district has banned all kinds of illegal hunting, poaching, and timbering within its jurisdiction. The decision was taken during the gun surrender cum signature campaign on environmental awareness programme at Seer-Pith village on Sunday.

The programme was organised by the All Pith-Seer Youth Welfare Association (APSYWA) in collaboration with Yachuli Forest Range, department of Environment Forest and Climate Change.

Attending the programme as a resource person, Tashi Wangchu Thongdok, CO, Yazali highlighted the significance of cross-pollination through birds, bees, insects and other natural animals. He also suggested organising bird watching trails, butterfly meet and awareness camps on the importance of relationship between nature and human beings.

While assuring to extend all assistance to the Kebi Panchayat he agreed to issue an administrative order to ban all the illegal hunting and poaching activities in the area.

Golo Epo, head gaon burah, Seer village and Golo Jarjo, president, APSYWA expressed gratitude to the department of Environment Forest and Climate Change for conducting such an awareness camp in their area and being committed to protecting nature and preventing illegal activities in the area.

Likha Obi, Range Forest Officer, Yachuli highlighted the importance of food chain and wildlife habitation and the Forest Law and Wildlife Act 1972.

During the awareness camp, 2 Nx100 air guns were also surrendered by Taba Teji and Taba Saha.

So far 128 air guns have been surrendered by the people of Lower Subansiri district under the Airgun Surrender Abhiyaan.

Public of Kebi and Seer village, forest officials and GBs attended the programme.
