Chandigarh-based Minerva FC Academy conducted its selection trials for boys aged between 6-10 years in Pasighat and Itanagar. A total of 13 budding players have been selected for the zonal round of the trials to be held in Guwahati on 29 January.
Forty-two players turned up for the selection trial held in Itanagar on Wednesday, and 18 in the Pasighat round of the trial, which was held on 25 January, informed Arunachal Pradesh Football Association (APFA) secretary Kipa Ajay.
The players, who will be selected in the zonal trial, will go for the final trial to be held at the Minerva Academy later this year. The selected players will get 100 percent scholarship and will be trained at the Minerva Academy and will also do in-campus schooling in the academy with hostel and food facilities.
“We are very pleased with the large turnout for the trials today and the level of talents we found here,” said Udipta Sarma, scouting in-charge of Minerva FC for the Northeast region. He assured to conduct more such trials in the near future. APFA’s tournament director John Neelam also witnessed the trials.
