The Special Investigation Cell (SIC) detained alleged principal accused and major conspirators in the Murkong-Selek to Ruksin Railway land purchase fraud, then director of Land Management Ennyo Nangkar and then DLRSO, Pasighat Ojing Nangkar, on Wednesday, according to SIC SP Dr Hemant Tiwari.
The Nangkar brothers were arrested in connection with the SlC (Vig) PS Case No. 03/2021 dated 15/03/2021 under section 409/ 468/ 471/ 120 (b) of the IPC r/w Sec of the 13(2) PC Act, 1988 when they surrendered to the special judge at Pasighat on Wednesday, according to the SP in a press briefing here this evening.
The Nangkar brothers were accused of serious irregularities, including fraudulently disbursing land compensation monies at an excessive rate without obtaining required government authorisation.
“The accused have conspired and conveyed the approval of an exorbitant amount of Rs 11, 91, 700 per bigha of land to be paid to the beneficiaries of the railway project without taking proper approval of the government,” SP Tiwari said.
