Arunachal Signs MoU With SAI to Develop Sporting Infrastructure

In order to develop the sports infrastructure at the National Centre of Excellence in Itanagar, an MoU was signed between the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Arunachal Pradesh government on Tuesday. The Understanding was signed as a move to hone the sporting talents in the State by providing state- of-the-art infrastructure and training facilities to budding sports-persons. The National Centre of Excellence (NCOE) currently has facilities for 3 sports- Wushu, Boxing and Weightlifting. 

Union minister of state for sports & youth affairs, Kiren Rijiju made the announcement by sharing pictures of the MoU signing ceremony on his Twitter handle. Union minister Rijiju also thanked Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu and state sports minister Mama Natung for carrying out the process.

Earlier, Rijiju, who hails from Arunachal Pradesh, also shared with the delegation his ministries plan to sponsor world-class soccer coaches for training promising footballers of the state. The Union Minister also said that efforts are underway to launch the talents of Arunachal Pradesh to the world stage by improving the sports facilities in the frontier state. He also said that the state sports authorities will also construct ‘youth hostels’ to aid the young sporting talents. Infrastructure like stadiums, recruiting coaches, sports equipment and many other work will be done to promote sports among the youths.
