CM Khandu: Lack of Infrastructure & Employment Opportunities causes Migration

Pema Khandu, the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, said on Saturday that a lack of infrastructure, basic amenities, and job prospects are the main causes for large-scale migration from the state’s border areas.

Khandu responded to a brief discussion in the assembly on the impact of de-population across the Indo-Tibetan (China) border region of Kurung Kumey district, which was moved by senior BJP MLA Lokam Tassar. Khandu said the state government has initiated several measures to stop migration from the border areas through various central schemes.

Migration is frightening in the districts of Kurung Kumey, Kra Daadi, and Upper Subansiri, which share borders with China’s Tibet region, and MLAs from these areas are doing everything they can to halt it.
