Oyan’s Business Community irritated by Erratic Power

For several months, the commercial community of Oyan market in the Sille-Oyan circle in East Siang district has been experiencing irregular energy supplies. Consumers have vowed to petition the District Consumer Forum in response to the inadequate power supply, claiming that the power department’s attitude has been “non-responsive.”

According to them, the department installed a “step-down transformer at Oyan Charali, which became defective five years ago, but the department engineers have yet to install a new transformer.” According to Oyan Market Committee (OMC) secretary Tado Kamsi, power supply in the Oyan Charali area is “erratic, with very low voltage.”

According to Kamsi and other customers, they approached authorities from the electricity department’s Ruksin subdivision and Pasighat division, but “did not obtain a good answer.” They said that even when there is no power, the power agency collects electricity bills from businesses, “which is generating great anxiety among local residents.”
