A small group of school students from Arunachal Pradesh’s Pasighat had taken up the noble task of cleaning up the embankments of the mighty Siang river, which passes through the Pasighat town.

For the past few years the embankments had become a dumping ground for garbage and domestic waste. The adverse dumping of waste in the river had resulted in endangering the lives of the flora and fauna of the river. The effects could widely be seen in the loss of aquatic lives as well as in livelihood, since the mighty Siang river is the life-line of the East Siang District.

The initiative taken up by the small group of school children to clean up the river embankments is really commendable. They have not only given a new life to the river and the community it depends on, but also have inspired many to take up the noble task of initiating a helping hand to nourish our mother nature. Nayir Panor, the students who initiated the drive along with his friends Bomar Riba and R. Koyu were supported not only by the people from their locality but also from various parts across the State. The Siang Clean Up Project had motivated others in the community to save the environment from being Polluted.
