Top Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan has offered to groom the budding cricketers from Northeastern States in India. This was informed by ‘Helping Hands’ founder IPS Robin Hibu.
“I would love to chip in and groom budding cricketers from NE states, ” said Dhawan.”Convey my heartfelt appreciation to members of Helping Hands for their selfless samaritan works for less privileged fellow citizens,” he added.
Dhawan played for the Indian Under-17 and Under-19 teams before making his first-class debut for Delhi in November 2004. At the 2013 Champions Trophy, 2015 World Cup and 2017 Champions Trophy, Dhawan was the leading run-scorer for India.
He is the fastest Indian to reach 3,000 ODI runs. He also became the first player in the history of IPL to score two back-to-back centuries. Dhawan was awarded the ‘Player of the Tournament’ for his exploits in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy and became the third Indian after Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh to win this award in ICC tournaments.
