COVID-19 found in over 1700 people in Mizoram: Minister

A health department official said on Sunday that at least 1,754 people in Mizoram, including state agriculture minister C. Lalrinsanga, have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total COVID-19 count to 1,85,227.

According to him, the number of new cases decreased by 23 from the previous day.

On Saturday, a total of 1,777 COVID-19 cases were reported.

According to the official, Lalrinsanga has developed mild COVID-19 symptoms and is currently being held at home.

He said the death toll had risen to 623 after two more people died of the infection in the last 24 hours in the Aizawl and Lunglei districts.

He said the single-day positivity rate fell to 26.45% from 27.38 percent the day before.

According to him, Aizawl district continues to have the most new cases (1,013), followed by Lunglei district (126) and Mamit district (132).

There are now 13,348 COVID-19 active cases in the northeastern state, with 1,507 people recovering in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,71,256.

COVID-19 patients have a recovery rate of 92.45 percent and a death rate of 0.33 percent.

COVID-19 has been tested in over 17.12 lakh samples in the northeastern state so far. On Saturday, 6,632 of these samples were tested.

Dr. Lalmuanawma Jongte, the state immunisation officer, says that over 7.97 lakh people have been inoculated so far, with 6.17 lakh receiving the full dose.
