Dr Polly Lama wins poster abstract award at United Kingdom Spine Societies Board

Dr. Polly Lama, faculty of SMIMS, Sikkim Manipal University won the ‘best of the best’ poster abstract award at the United Kingdom Spine Society Board (UKSSB), Brit Spine conference.

Dr. Lama had presented the two poster abstracts at the UKSSB,  Brit Spine conference titled ‘ Intervertebral disc cell clusters exhaust with increasing grades of disc degeneration as the first official entry’ and ‘Fragmented SLRP`s and fibronectin in overloaded intervertebral disc as potential alarmins of matrix damage’.

The selected poster abstracts were screened by the UKSS Board of researchers prior to being accepted for the conference presentation.

Dr. Lama’s presentation competed with many other world class Universities such as the University of Cambridge, UK, Sheffield Hallam University, UK, Dalhousie University, Canada etc. Based on standard scoring scale and a thorough discussion session spanning to weeks, Dr Lama’s research work ‘Fragmented SLRP`s and fibronectin in overloaded intervertebral disc as potential alarmins of matrix damage’ was finally awarded as the ‘best of the best’.

Dr. Lama is an associate professor of Department of Anatomy, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences (SMIMS) under Sikkim Manipal University (SMU). SMU vice chancellor Dr. Rajan S Grewal and other officials have congratulated Dr. Lama for her meritorious achievement.
