Essential commodities were donated by three brothers from Nongstoin to several households that fell victim to the recent flash floods and landslides in different parts of West Khasi Hills including Tiehsaw, New-Nongstoin, Upper-New Nongstoin and Nongstoin village.
The trio comprised V. Byrsat, K. Byrsat and O. Byrsat, along with their two friends from Shillong.
Tuesday’s distribution benefitted over 200 households.
“We can’t just tolerate seeing our people left without normal houses, better food, and clothes, so as a group of individuals, we have donated foods and essential items to the victims and we spent this from our own pockets,” said K. Byrsat.
Meanwhile, the headman of Tiehsaw village, M. Dkhar, expressed his gratitude to the group and lauded them for taking up such an initiative.
