Hydrological survey to study nature of Dhansiri river soon: Assam CM

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, on Friday reviewed the stages of implementation of government schemes of Lakhimpur district at a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner and other heads of the departments in Lakhimpur. During the meeting Sonowal reviewed the progress of allotment of land pattas, Prime Minister’s Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, AADHAR registration, Saubhagya scheme, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana in the district. Later, he also handed over allotment papers to 9400 landless indigenous people and asked the DC initiate the allotment of land pattas to another 7000 beneficiaries by December next.

Meanwhile, terming river Dhansiri as the life line for the people of Lakhimpur, the CM informed that since recurring flood and erosion caused by the river has become a perennial problem of the district, a hydrological survey to study the nature of the river would be carried out soon. He asked the Water Resources Department to do the needful for undertaking the survey.

Later, the Chief Minister Sonowal also took stock of the prevailing COVID 19 situations in the district. Minister of State (I/C) for Panchayat the Rural Development Naba Kumar Doley, Lakhimpur DC, SP Lington Teron and senior officers of different departments were present at the meeting among others.
