Assam Forest Dept Apprehends Three poachers in Biswanath

In a major breakthrough, the Police and forest officials have arrested three poachers in Assam’s Biswanath district. The officials have seized leopard skin, bones and other body parts from their possession. The Forest officials suspected that they had killed the leopard along Assam-Arunachal border.

Acting on a tip-off, officials of the Central range launched a joint operation which was led by Forest officer Ikbal Hussein, Beat officer Madhurya Saikia and jawans of SRPF & AFPF at Bihpukhuri under Biswanath Wildlife Division. They apprehended three individuals identified as Yudhisthir Tanti (28) of Gingia, Bullet Munda (37) of Borjarani and Subhas Mirdha (24) of Borjarani in connection with illegal trading & possession of leopard skin and bones. 

“We have recovered skin, bones, teeth and other body parts of a full grown leopard from their possession. During interrogation, they revealed that other persons have also been involved in this illegal trading. Our investigation is on, and we have launched operations to nab the other accused,” a forest officer said.
