Assam: Govt, Paper Mills employees reach agreement on addressing pending pay & dues

The Assam government reached a deal with the JACRU on Wednesday to resolve the lingering salary concerns of Hindustan Paper Corporation Limited employees and workers (HPCL).

The decision was reached following a four-hour meeting led by Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma at his office.

After the NCLT approves the proposal made by the Government of Assam, a relief package worth roughly Rs 570 crores will be released within two months.

Following an agreement between chief minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma and the paper mill employees’ association, the decision to provide a Rs 570 crore relief package for them was made.

Taking to Twitter CM Sarma wrote, “Finally reached agreement with the workers and employees of Hindustan Paper Corporation to resolve long pending issues of their salaries and dues. Discussion lasted over 4 hours in my office and concluded at 2AM/”
