Assam Govt to provide 10-lakh grant & 75% subsidy to boat owners

Private ferries are no longer allowed to operate in Assam, according to the government. The order has been put into effect right away. Private ferries, according to the Assam government, do not have marine engines and rely on single engines to operate their boats. All private ferries are now prohibited from operating because they lack marine engines.

Furthermore, the Assam government has offered a grant of ten lakh rupees, plus a 75% subsidy, to boat owners who wish to replace their single engines with marine engines. He also stated that a set of standard operating procedures (SOPs) will be issued soon to schedule health checks for those who work on the boats.

On his official Twitter account, Assam Chief Minister shared this information. He penned, “Private ferries will no longer operate as of today because they lack a marine engine. If owners want to convert a single engine to a marine engine, the GoA will give them a Rs 10 lakh grant with a 75% subsidy. A statement of purpose will be issued to schedule health screenings for those who work on boats.”
