Assam: Kaziranga National Park to reopen for tourists soon

Assam’s Kaziranga National Park (KNP) is set to reopen to visitors on Friday, October 1. Tourists will be able to go on jeep safaris only in two areas: Kohora (Central) and Bagori (South) (Western). KNP Director P Sivakumar confirmed this.

The much-anticipated elephant ride will not be available at this time. According to Park officials, the elephant safari will resume in November.

Due to the worsening COVID-19 situation in the State during the second wave of the pandemic, the KNP was closed. On May 3, the Union Ministry of Environment and Forest issued an order closing the Kaziranga National Park in Assam to tourists until further notice.
