Assam police registers case against Rashtriya Bajrang Dal for imparting arms training to youth

In response to a recently surfaced video showing purported arms training by Rashtriya Bajrang Dal members at a school in Mangaldoi, the DGP directed Darrang Police to conduct a thorough investigation and register a case. Accordingly, the Mangaldai police station has registered a case under sections 153A and 34 of IPC regarding the incident.

Notably, the video has raised concerns about the potential training of young men in handling firearms. Approximately 350 young men were reported to have received training in various skills, including martial arts, weapons handling, survival tactics, and political ideology, during a seven-day camp organized by Rashtriya Bajrang Dal in Mornoi village, Darrang District. The camp also featured Vedic rituals and ideological orientation.

In response to the video, opposition parties, including Congress and CPIM, have demanded action and an inquiry into the matter. Congress Legislature Party leader Debabrata Saikia has written a letter to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, urging legal action against the camp’s organizers and state officials. The opposition parties expressed concerns about potential divisions among different communities, religions, and linguistic affiliations in the state.
