Over hundred inmates of Lazaiholla camp forcibly tried to enter the Deputy Commissioner’s office at Tinsukia over the Laika-Dodhia rehabilitation issue on Thursday. They later stood outside the main gate.
The protesters started to move from Lazaiholla camp, condemning the government on relocation issues. The protesters also included women that camped at makeshift tents bearing severe cold and rain since the past 30 days.
The campaign was headed by Takam Mising Porin Kebang (TMPK), MMK and TMMK. The activists claimed that none from the committee led by Forest Minister Parimal Suklabaidya assessed the camp inmates about the rehabilitation plan.
The leaders of TMPK announced that by force they would occupy the 470 ha degraded forest area of Ouguriunder Digboi Forest Division after January 31 if the government fails to keep their demand.
