Assam: Road Accident at Jamuguri; One killed, Two injured

When a sand-laden dumper collided with an accident at Kusumtola beneath Jamuguri police station in the early hours of Sunday, Sanen Boro, a dumper driver from Baksa district, died on the scene and two others were seriously injured.

According to reports, the accident occurred on NH-15 when a coal-laden truck carrying registration number AS 01 NC 9175 travelling from Tezpur to Biswanath Chariali collided with a dumper travelling in the opposite direction in front of the 12th AP Battalion’s main gate.

Overspeeding, risky or irresponsible driving, or overtaking are responsible for more than 41% of deaths in road accidents in Assam, according to the report.

Road accidents are the leading cause of death in Assam, accounting for 3,245 deaths.

In 2019, there were 8,055 road accidents, 591 railway accidents, and 5 railway crossing accidents, resulting in 3245, 593, and 5 deaths, respectively.
