Well-known Assamese litterateur and Sahitya Akademi Awardee Dr Lakshmi Nandan Bora(89) breathed his last on Thursday morning at a private hospital.
He authored above 60 books which includes his award-winning novels Patal Bhairavi and Kayakalpa. Bora was also awarded with Padma Shri, the fourth highest Indian civilian award, in 2015.
He was the president of Asam Sahitya Sabha during 1996-97.
In the year 1988, Bora was given the Sahitya Akademi Award for his novel Patal Bhairavi and the Assam Valley Literary Award in 2004. In 2008, KK Birla Foundation honoured him with the Saraswati Samman for his novel Kayakalpa.
In 2012, Assam Publication Board honoured him with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
