Assam’s flood situation worsens; 3 died & 5.74 lakh people affected

The flood situation in Assam has worsened, with yet another person – a child – losing his life on Tuesday. With this new death, the total number of people killed in Assam’s first wave of floods now stands at three.

According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), a child drowned at Bhuragaon circle in Morigaon district. Meanwhile, floods have displaced nearly 5.74 lakh people across the state’s 18 districts.

The worst-affected district is Nalbari, which has over 1.1 lakh people, followed by Darrang, which has over 1.09 lakh people, and Lakhimpur, which has over 1.08 lakh people.
