On Saturday, Assam’s transportation department launched ten new contactless services in an effort to ensure efficient public service delivery.

Khanapara Administrative Staff College in Guwahati was the first to offer online services.

Vehicle ownership transfer, hypothecation cancellation and endorsement, NOC, address change, duplicate certificate, international driving permit, and licence replacement are among the services that were launched today.

The online service is expected to reduce footfall at the state’s District Transport Offices (DTO) by about 4 lakh people each year. The registration process will no longer require the signature of a DTO.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed with Common Service Centres (CSC) to make these services more accessible to Panchayat residents.

People in Assam will be able to use these services through 13,568 CSCs.

Meanwhile, an e-ticket system for ferry service between Dhubri and Silchar has been launched.

A dedicated Whatsapp number, 9531107518, has been established for people to report any complaints.

The event was attended by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, state Transport Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, and other department officials.

All DTOs, according to Chief Minister Sarma, should participate in revenue collection. “During the Covid-19 pandemic, Rs 800 crore in revenue was collected.” In the next four years, people must work honestly,” Sarma said.
