As assembly elections are approaching, the Excise Department of Assam is ready to look upon and control production, distribution and supply of illicit liquor in the state.
Task forces including excise and police officials will be deployed by the Deputy Commissioners of all districts stated an official release on Friday.
Daily reports of case detection, arrests and seizures made by police and excise personnel will be needed to be submitted by the District superintendents of the department.
The deputy commissioners and superintendents of police and excise of all districts sharing inter-state borders with Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Tripura, Nagaland and West Bengal, and International Border with Bhutan and Bangladesh, will cooperate with each other in prevention of illegal liquor flow into the state.
“Check posts would be set up at specific locations,” stated the press release.
“Superintendents of excise shall ensure frequent and regular checking of all wholesale warehouses and retail shops in the bordering districts,” it added.
