Government can’t afford to teach religious scriptures: Himanta Biswa Sarma

Assam Education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday reiterated that the state government can’t afford to teach religious scriptures with the government funds and said that the government’s stand is the same as they had said in the assembly.

He further said that there should be no religious education on government’s cost. If someone does it privately, they have that right. But it should not be done with the government’s expenditure.

According to sources, the government will issue two separate notifications for Madrasas and Sanskrit tols in November.
