Gunrunner killed in Joint Operation of Assam Police & BSF

The frightening events in Afghanistan, as well as reports of extremists infiltrating into India from Bangladesh to join the Taliban, prompted intelligence services to issue a warning.

On Monday, security authorities apprehended a gun runner, Nurul Islam, and his accomplice, Liang Khyiamon. The BSF and the Assam police collaborated on the operation. The gun runner was murdered by security guards while attempting to flee with a police officer’s weapon.

The BSF had received precise information regarding Nurul Islam and his accomplice’s travel onboard the Silchar-Guwahati Fast Train and was prepared to disembark at Badarpur junction. The BSF enlisted the assistance of the Assam Police and seized six handguns from Nurul (38). Nurul was from Baraoigram, around 15 kilometres from Karimganj. Khyiamon (22) is a Nagaland native from the Tuensang town. Nagaland’s weapons were to be used.

According to a police source, security personnel escorted Nurul to a nondescript location near Marjatkandi for a nocturnal cross-examination to determine the source of the guns, their delivery destination, and the reason behind it. Are they intended for subversive actions or extremist elements? But, before being interrogated, he attempted to flee by stealing a police officer’s pistol.

The crew, on the other hand, fired at Nurul as he was fleeing. He was in serious condition. He was transported to Karimganj Civil Hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries.
