Guwahati Police detain 26 Myanmar Nationals & Confiscate Fake Aadhar cards

The Myanmar citizens were caught at a hotel in Guwahati’s Paltan Bazar. They intended to relocate to Delhi. The Myanmar nationals’ possessions included Aadhar cards with Mizoram addresses and Indian voter registration cards, according to the police.

The arrest of Myanmar nationals in possession of counterfeit Aadhar cards has revealed a new facet of illegal infiltration in Assam. The foreigners were also said to have bogus UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) ID cards.

In June of this year, the Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested nine Rohingya refugees in Guwahati, including three women and a toddler. The detained foreigners were also said to be in possession of forged UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) identification cards.
