Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on Wednesday commissioned Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) named Kanaklata Barua in Kolkata.

The Ship has been named after the great female freedom fighter from Assam. Earlier the ICG had an Fast Petrol Vessel (FPV) named after Kanaklata that was decommissioned in 2017 after 20 years of service from Port Blair.

Shri Jiwesh Nandan, IAS, Additional secretary, MoD, unveiled the Ship’s plaque during the Commissioning ceremony of the ICG Ship.
