Indian Govt plans to convert 36,000 hamlets into “Model Tribal Villages”

The Indian government intends to convert 36,000 hamlets into “model tribal villages.” Union tribal affairs minister Arjun Munda announced this in Guwahati, Assam, on Monday.

Rural development, forest protection, and indigenous people’s ethnic practises will be prioritised as these hamlets are transformed into “model tribal villages.”

According to the union minister, 1700 of the total 36,000 villages will be in Assam.
Union tribal affairs minister Arjun Munda said, “We are planning to transform these villages in such a way that factors like rural development, protection of ethnic or autonomous systems, forest rights, and entrepreneurship can be looked into.”
