Assam: Kamakhya Railway Station in Maligaon to undergo major renovation

The Kamakhya Railway Station in Maligaon, Guwahati, is a major railway hub in the state capital. Several trains pass through Kamakhya Junction virtually every day.

The Ministry of Railways is currently renovating this railway station. New amenities would contribute to Kamakhya’s overall improvement.

N.F. Railway plans to re-model Kamakhya railway station in the region of Guwahati with world-class facilities. Shri Anshul Gupta, GM/NFR, visited the site and site plan with senior authorities and asked them to speed up the work.

“Kamakhya railway station in the vicinity of Guwahati is planned to be re-modelled with facilities of World class standard by NFR, Rail Ministry Shri Anshul Gupta, GM/NFR inspected the location and site-plan with senior officials and advised officials to expedite work” reads a tweet by NFR today.

According to the NFR’s official website, the Northeast Frontier Railway comprises five divisions: Tinsukia, Lumding, Rangiya, Alipurduar, and Katihar. At the field level, these divisions are directly responsible for train operations and report to the General Manager.

It goes on to say that each of these Divisions is led by a Divisional Railway Manager, who is a Senior Administrative Grade officer with the rank of Joint Secretary to the Government of India.
