In a major anti-drug operation, the Assam Police recovered a large stash of contraband substances worth around Rs 5 crores from the Assam district of Bokajan. According to ANI, a heroin shipment weighing approximately 660 grammes was seized from a vehicle near the Bokajan Police Station.

During the frisking and checking, security forces apprehended two people, both of whom were residents of Dimapur, Nagaland. As a result, they seized a large consignment of illegal substances hidden inside 51 soap cases.

The apprehended individuals were planning to deliver such substances to a person from the Bokajan area who was recently arrested with 695 grammes of heroin. Furthermore, an investigation into the matter is currently underway.

According to police sources, the two arrested drug peddlers may be linked to notorious drug lord Baba Hazarika, implying a larger network is involved in the area.

Meanwhile, Karimganj police seized 38,000 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup destined for the international narcotics trade yesterday evening.

The drugs, estimated to be worth at least Rs 2 crores in the market, were carefully hidden beneath stacks of cement bags. Furthermore, an investigation into the matter is currently underway.
