Machete-Assaulted Lakhimpur College Girl Passes Away at AMCH

Dhakuakhana, a college student from Lakhimpur district, died at Assam Medical College Hospital (AMCH) on Saturday after suffering serious injuries after being assaulted by a machete in Dhemaji on Saturday.

Nandita Saikia, a B.A. third-semester student at Maridhal College in Dhemaji, was killed. She was from Naba Kathbari village in Dhakuakhana.

According to accounts, Nandita, her classmate Kashmira Dutta, and Kashmira’s father Deba Dutta were attacked with a machete by Rintu Sarma in broad daylight at Dhemaji bus station on Saturday. The three injured were sent to the Dhemaji Civil Hospital right away. However, because of Nandita’s health, she was sent to the Assam Medical College Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh.

Nandita’s condition worsened rapidly on Monday, and she died in the hospital from her injuries. Rintu Sharma, the assailant, has been apprehended by police.
