Assam: CM Sarma rolls-out ‘Micro-Finance Loan Waiver Scheme’ at Tinsukia

Micro-Finance Loan Waiver Scheme

In an attempt to support women, the Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today rolled-out the ‘Micro-Finance Loan Waiver Scheme’ at Tinsukia.

According to reports, the scheme will benefit more than 20 lakh women. In his address to the crowd, CM Sarma stated that the maximum amount that would be provided to borrowers is Rs 25,000. He also urged the recipients to make good use of the financial incentives and to expand their business ventures.

During the event, Sarma handed out checks to 5000 women who had demonstrated good credit management.
The scheme will benefit 22,674 women in Tinsukia, with the remaining 17,674 recipients receiving their checks at various block offices.

Taking to Twitter, the CM wrote, “Distributed cheques to 5000 women beneficiaries under MFI Scheme to incentivise them to maintain good credit discipline. Altogether 22,674 women from Tinsukia will get relief under the scheme. Remaining 17,674 bebeficieries will be given cheques at different block offices.”

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sarma once again appealed to people to refrain from taking forceful donations or Chanda from businesses as it not only impacts the economy but also affects the reputation of the state.

Chief Minister Sarma, who is on a two-day official visit to eastern Assam, also visited the iconic Dinjoy Satra at Chabua where he paid his obeisance at the holy shrine. The Assam Chief Minister also visited the Disam Dev Satra at Bandarkhatti in Tinsukia district.
