Assam: Suspected drug peddler injured in police shooting in Mangaldai

On Saturday, a suspected drug peddler was injured in a police shooting in Mangaldai, Assam. According to sources, the incident occurred in the Hirapara area when the accused drug peddler attempted to flee police custody.

Kuddus Ali, the peddler, was apprehended on Friday night. He is currently receiving care at a private hospital. Since last year, there have been numerous reports of criminals and drug dealers being shot at for allegedly attempting to flee police custody.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that his state’s government has adopted a zero tolerance policy toward drugs and that all Northeastern states are working together to combat the problem.
