Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma turns 53 Today, wishes pours in

unsolved drugs cases

Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam, turned 53 on Tuesday (February 1). At 12 a.m., fans and followers of the chief minister gathered at his residence to wish him a happy birthday.

Wishes for the Chief Minister poured in from all over the state and the country. On his birthday, his fans and well-wishers wished him well. The chief minister also celebrated his birthday by cutting cake with his fan followers at his residence.

He was photographed with his Bhagin (nephew) and his fans. He has taken bites of cakes while claiming to be diabetic.

Speaking to the media, CM Sarma said, “I am blessed to have such a large fan followers and I seek blessings from all on my birthday.”

“I have various programmes scheduled today and on Wednesday I will visit Majuli to spend time with 48 nephews. I got inspiration from the love and blessings that I receive from the people of the state,” added CM Sarma.

The Jalukbari constituency represented by CM Sarma has been illuminated with lights and decorations on the occasion of the Chief Minister’s birthday.

Himanta Biswa Sarma is the current Chief Minister of Assam and the 15th Chief Minister of India. Sarma, a former member of the Indian National Congress political party, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on August 23, 2015. He was elected to the Assam Legislative Assembly five times from Jalukbari, the first time in 2001

Sarma cited Rahul Gandhi’s mismanagement as the reason for his departure from the Indian National Congress party. He was sworn in as a Cabinet Minister on May 24, 2016, after leading the BJP’s successful state election campaign in 2016.

He was appointed convener (leader) of the North-East Democratic Alliance (NEDA), a regional sub-group of the federal National Democratic Alliance (NDA) aimed at increasing the party’s political strength in North-East India, by the BJP. In Assam, voters frequently refer to him as ‘Mama’ (meaning maternal uncle).
