Manipur: AMSU took out Rally in Imphal against Nagaland Civilian Killings

All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) on Friday took out a rally in Imphal to protest the killing of 15 civilians via way of means of safety forces in Nagaland’s Mon district on December 4. The rally, which noticed a large turnout of students, turned into organised below the supervision of the North East Students Organisation (NESO).

The protesters demanded the on the spot repeal of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) from the Northeast. Protesters carried placards with slogans such as ‘Repeal AFSPA from Manipur’, ‘Stop killing harmless civilians, ‘We stand in opposition to AFSPA 1958’, ‘Give peace a chance. AMSU standard secretary Vikramjit Thongam stated that AFSPA must be revoked from the Northeast.

He stated below the safety of the Act, safety forces have executed atrocities and plenty of harmless civilians have misplaced their lives on the fingers of safety forces. SSA If the Act maintains to succeed withinside the region, such awful incidents will continue, he brought.

While reiterating that incidents much like what had befell in Nagaland’s Mon district have taken vicinity in Manipur, he brought that the Supreme Court had ordered the CBI to research AFSPA-associated cases.
