Assam Passenger Train Service reintroduced in Manipur

A passenger train service was launched by Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh and Union minister of state for Railways Raosaheb Patil Danve to provide better rail connectivity to the people of Manipur.

The passenger train service between Jiribam, Manipur, and Silchar, Assam, was re-introduced on Sunday to meet the people of Manipur’s long-standing demand. The flag-off ceremony was broadcast live from Imphal via video link.

There were also state ministers, MPs, MLAs, and senior officials from the Railways and the Manipur government in attendance. “The train (05659/05660) will fulfil the cherished goal of enabling the people of Manipur to travel through railways to the rest of the country,” said MoS for Railways, Coal & Mine Raosaheb Patil Danve in his speech.
