Assam Rifles recover huge cache of arms in Manipur

Troops of the Assam Rifles, Thoubal Battalion, uncovered a huge cache of weapons and ammunition from the Kamiching region in Manipur’s Thoubal district on Wednesday.

The weapons recovered were two 9mm Beretta pistols, one .32mm Chinese pistol, two .32mm country-made pistols, one 9 mm pistol, two sub-machine guns (SMGs), and one .12 bore rifle.
According to sources, they began a joint operation with Imphal East Police commandos on February 2 based on credible intelligence regarding the establishment of an arms cache in the Kamiching area of Thoubal District. Following an extended search, the team identified the cache on Wednesday morning.

They also recovered two Chinese rifle grenades and one Lathod round.
They delivered the arms and ammunition over to Andro Police Station for further inquiry.
