Citizens Committee Manipur resolves to constitute Humanitarian Committee for refugees

The Citizens Committee Manipur has resolved to constitute a humanitarian sub-committee to extend all possible assistance to the people from Myanmar who have taken refuge in the State. The committee would be constituted with Professor Amar Yumnam as its chairman for initiating all possible humanitarian measures.

The Citizens Committee Manipur has also resolved to make a representation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi ‘to ensure that Myanmar citizens fleeing their country from persecution are treated humanely in the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’.

The Citizens Committee Manipur has also resolved to appeal the people to contribute, in cash or kind, in order to extend all possible humanitarian assistance to the Myanmar citizens taking refuge in the border villages of Manipur. 

These decisions were taken during a meeting of the Citizens Committee Manipur held on Sunday in Imphal under the chairmanship of former CM Radhabinod Koijam. 

The Citizens Committee Manipur said in a statement that,’The participants shared the present pains and sufferings oof the Myanmar citizens in general, and particularly those who have fled into the bordering villages of Manipur and surviving with full of uncertainties and hardships’.
