To prevent the spread of swine flu, an order was issued by the office of the District Council to stop import of pigs for raising and consumption within the jurisdiction of Karong – Senapati Town.

The meat butcher and general public are directed via notification in view of the deaths of pigs and swine flu epidemic in the district. It added that the epidemic can unfavorably affect the economy of the farmers and health of humans if the infected meat is consumed.

A penalty will be charged against anyone who will not adhere according to the order for personal profit.
