Manipur by-poll campaign on full swing

In Manipur, political leaders are engaged in multiple public meeting as campaigning for the bye-elections to the four-state assembly seats has picked up pace.

Bye-elections for five assembly seats of Manipur was announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

However, after the rival candidate withdrew his nomination there was no opposition for the BJP candidate of Singhat assembly constituency.

The date for the bye poll of the remaining four assembly constituencies is 7th of November. On 10th November the votes will be Counted.

Three BJP candidates are competing against each other while an independent candidate in Lilong assembly constituency is being supported by BJP.

The independent candidate including the four candidates had won the last general election under Congress ticket but for certain reasons they joined the BJP party..

However, Congress has its candidates placed in all four of the assembly constituencies.

The campaign is supported by the Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Manipur O. Ibobi for the party candidates.
