Manipur’s Jiribam district became the first in the state to vaccinate 100 percent of its residents. Taking note of this, Manipur’s chief minister announced on Wednesday at an event that the district would be awarded Rs 20 lakh for its accomplishment.

N Biren Singh, the state’s chief minister, also stated that the state is prepared to deal with any potential third wave, noting that the state has already improved its health care and infrastructure, as well as increased manpower to combat the pandemic.

The vaccination drive in Jiribam, Manipur, began on February 9, 2021, with healthcare and frontline workers, and was later expanded to include people aged 18 and up. The District Health Authority scheduled 431 sessions, of which 423 were completed as of yesterday, including remote villages.
