Manipur : MPCC demand re-poll at 10 polling station

In a written statement, a repoll is sought for by-election at 10 polling stations in Kangpokpi district by Dr Lamtinthang Haokip, INC candidate from 51-Saitu Assembly Constituency to the Returning Officer of 51-Saitu (ST) AC.

Dr Lamtinthang Haokip expressed dissatisfaction with the reports from Polling Officer’s at 10 different Polling Stations in 51-Saitu AC.

The polling stations mentioned were , 51/3 Mayangkhang Khunou, 51/4 Mayangkhang(B), 51/5 Tumuyon Khullen (A), 51/6 Tumuyon Khullen (B), 51/33 Leilon Vaiphei, 51/37 Leimakhong, 51/47 Khoripok, 51/50 Khoken, 51/52 Kharam Pallel and 51/53 Tingkai Khullen.

Until video coverage/clips of the mentioned polling stations aren’t provided. The post-poll scrutiny will not be considered, said the INC candidate.

Dr Lamtinthang Haokip speaking to the media persons said that the booth was intruded by armed goons, and village authority. Some voters even refused to cast their votes at various polling stations.

Election Commission of India was also demanded for a re-poll by the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee in a written statement.

MPCC alleged that from the start of the polling process the voting proceeded through proxy voting and BJP workers caught hold of the booths.

Therefore, fresh poll or re-poll may be arranged under Section 58(B) and Section 58(A) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, as added.
