As per officials, Brown Sugar weighting 72 kilos worth Rs 287 crores was recovered from Kamu in Thoubal district of Manipur on Wednesday.

In a combined operation by the Assam Rifles and Manipur Police, the recovery of the drugs was done.
After receiving an input by the security forces of a big consignment of drugs being hidden that was to be handed out to different parts of the country, several teams were launched by the Assam Rifles and Manipur Police on the intervening night of November 10-11, according to an official statement.

The statement read, “In a painstaking search undertaken in difficult terrain in the hours of darkness, three concealed bags containing brown sugar were recovered in the early hours of November 11. The market value of the narcotics recovered is assessed to be over Rs 287 crores”.

Further investigation regarding matter is being held.
