Manipur: Shortage of labour results in price increase

Manipur’s administration claims that a lack of personnel and transportation issues have led to an increase in the cost of key goods in the state. T Satyabrata Singh, Manipur’s consumer affairs minister, confirmed this.

The Manipur consumer affairs, food, and public distribution department, according to Singh, has been working diligently to bring the state’s price surge under control.

“Prices have risen due to transportation issues and a labour constraint for loading and unloading vital goods,” T Satyabrata Singh said. However, Singh stressed that his agency has no control over the hike in fuel prices.
