The Federation of Government College Teachers’ Association (FEGOCTA) continued the protest for the 5th day in Manipur.

“The college teachers feel cheated, demoralized and increasingly agitated because the association has been requesting for implementing the national policy of University Grants Commission (UGC) in Manipur since December 2018.” said the FEGOCTA on Wednesday 

FEGOCTA further added that they have been commanding for implementing UGC pay since 2018, and they cannot accept the pause in its implementation on the COVID-19 pandemic excuse.

FEGOCTA also claimed that the Higher Education department had not sent the file to the Finance Department even after over five months of the State Cabinet’s approval on August 6, 2020, for its implementation. So they further warned that they may enhance the agitation with other forms of democratic protests if the government continues silent on their demand.
