Kishore Chandra Wangkhem, a Manipuri TV journalist who was arrested for his facebook post on September 29th continues to struggle in jail for over a month now. He is kept in East Imphal’s Sajiwa Central Jail.

Chandra gathered attention for his response to a viral social media post that was made by the Wife of a high-profile BJP politician. The response was against a disrespectful comment and a ‘racial slur’ about her which was made by a Meitei woman close to the BJP Politician.

Ranjita Elangbam, wife of Kishore alleged of political pressure for the reason which her husband got arrested.
Kishore Chandra was also arrested earlier on April 2019, against a sedition charge for his statement towards Manipur Chief Minister, N Biren Singh. He disagreed against the CM’s decision to commemorate Rani of Jhansi’s battle against the British in Imphal on grounds that Rani Lakshmibai had nothing to do with Manipur.
