Manipur Police Intensify Security Operations, Uncover Explosives, Detain Hundreds

In response to escalating tensions, the Manipur police have launched a series of intensive security operations across the state, resulting in the recovery of explosives and the detainment of hundreds of individuals.

Security forces have spearheaded search operations in vulnerable areas spanning Imphal West, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Kangpokpi, and Churachandpur districts. These efforts have yielded significant results, with the discovery of one firearm, two locally-manufactured Pumpi guns, 50 rounds of ammunition, and eight explosives recovered from Imphal-West and Kangpokpi districts.

The stringent security measures also encompass the establishment of 127 Nakas (checkpoints) in various Manipur districts, including both the hill and valley regions. These checkpoints have played a pivotal role in monitoring and controlling movement within the state, leading to the detainment of 873 individuals in connection with various violations.

In addition to enforcing strict security checks, authorities have prioritized the smooth movement of essential items to ensure the continued supply of goods. A total of 182 vehicles have received permission to travel along NH-37, while 19 vehicles have been granted passage along NH-2, all laden with vital goods. Stringent security measures have been implemented in vulnerable areas, with security convoys escorting vehicles through sensitive stretches to guarantee safe and unhindered movement.
