Meghalaya’s COVID death toll reaches 61

Taking the Meghalaya’s death toll to 61 a 56-year-old woman succumbed to the Covid-19 at a hospital in Shillong on Saturday,.

State director of health services Dr Aman War informed that the woman from East Khasi Hills district died due to acute respiratory distress with septic shock induced by the viral infection.

War said she was also suffering from cancer and passed away at Civil Hospital, Shillong.

The state recorded 127 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the number of active cases in the state to 2,424.

During the last 24-hours, 71 patients have recovered from the viral infection.

The new cases have been reported from East Khasi Hills district (95), West Garo Hills district (13), Ri-Bhoi district (8), South Garo Hills district (5), North Garo Hills district (4) and East Jaintia Hills district (2).

The maximum number of patients who recovered from the illness are from East Khasi Hills.
